The silver isn't a guarantee — it's a negotiation between clone, light, and humidity, and most growers lose it without knowing why.
The clone most often sold under the bare name mamei, and the one that produces the broadest, most reliable silver wash across the leaf. Mature leaves go heart-shaped and deeply quilted, with silver pooling between the primary veins. It holds pigment well under 70–80% humidity and moderate light. If you buy one mamei, this is the one to chase.
