A Brazilian species with narrow, asymmetric leaves striped emerald and chartreuse along the midrib, the whole surface covered in short stiff trichomes that catch light like crushed felt. It throws white flowers freely under decent humidity and stays compact — 30 to 45 cm is typical indoors. Less temperamental than its reputation suggests if you give it airflow. The stripe holds best under bright, diffuse light; weak light flattens it to plain green.
